Cleanliness is important in everyday life. The Covid outbreak made us aware of viruses we cannot see, reinforcing the need to use multiple methods to kill germs. We use anti-bacterial soap on our bodies, sanitizer on our hands and disinfectant wipes on surfaces. But what about our clothes?
We are excited to offer an Ozone Laundry System at both of our Paradise Laundry locations. This system injects ozone into the cold water to disinfect and sanitize your laundry during the rinse cycle. Additionally, our machines also benefit from disinfecting and sanitizing during every wash.
What is Ozone?
Ozone is a molecule that occurs naturally. It is created by oxygen interacting with electricity. You have probably smelled the ozone in the air after a thunder storm. Lift up the lid when the cold water is flushing the soap and fabric softener compartment, does it smell familiar?
Ozone acts as a natural sanitizer. It is extremely effective against germs that cause illness. It is the strongest reproducible sanitizer known to man. Ozone is frequently used in the food processing industry to disinfect and kill bacteria. In fact, if you drink bottled water, that water is likely sanitized by an ozone system. Ozonated water systems are primarily used in hospitals and hotels. The technology has just become available to laundromats and Paradise Laundry is the first in Sacramento to offer it to our customers. Disinfecting and sanitizing, will be the cleanest clothes you can give your family.
How Does It Work?
Explaining ozone is a little complicated, but the simplified version is this:
Heat breaks down ozone molecules, the Ozone Laundry System is connected to the cold water line. Our ozone system is in a display case in the customer area. As ozone is created it is sent to a holding tank in our back room. When washers call for cold water the generator kicks on sending ozonated water to the machines. When the display lights up blue and the “fish” start to swim, the system is making more ozone.
However, there is a lot going on behind the scenes that you can’t see, too. The Ozone Laundry System creates an electrical charge that interacts with the oxygen in the air to form ozone molecules. The molecules dissolve into the wash water and rapidly oxidize organic materials which purifies the water and reduces odors. As a result, your clothes are cleaner, smell fresher and feel softer, all while disinfecting and sanitizing them thoroughly.
Money Saving Tip!
The Ozone Laundry System is connected to the cold water line. That means during the cold water rinse you disinfect and sanitize every load of laundry you wash in one of our machines. When you select a COLD water wash, we don’t have to use gas to heat the water so we pass the saving on to you. You not only save money, but you also receive the benefits of the ozone throughout the duration of your wash.
